We are seeking an experienced developer to help us modernize and unify our customer management, product registration, software licensing, online store, and support ticketing systems. We are dealing with some legacy pieces of software and unfortunately there isn’t a lot of documentation so part of the project will be exploring the server to see where everything is and seeing how the current systems work. We also aren't certain how long this project will take and are expecting candidates to help make that determination.
Below I’ve outlined the existing pieces involved and some of our ideas.
- The website is built with Wordpress and Woocommerce. (https://carvewright.com)
- Our existing customer management system was built about 15 years ago to handle product registration, software licensing management, customer notes, and service ticketing. It doesn’t communicate with our store at all so our customers have 2 different accounts they have to access.
- The databases are MySQL and hosted on our server
- Below are the current UIs that we want to consolidate and build integrations with our store.
1. Tracking has been our primary in-house tool for customer management. It is built in an old version of PHP and hosted locally (we’ll grant remote access). We want to get rid of this one, but it has a lot of the functionality and tools we will need.
2. Register is a web application version of Tracking (https://register.carvewright.com/). It has a poor UI/UX and it doesn’t have the full functionality of the locally hosted version. It uses php, jquery ajax, smarty templates and doctrine orm.
3. Sculptor is a license management web application (https://store.carvewright.com/sculptor) for a specific software product. It uses the same interface design as register but utilizes a different licensing system that generates tokens.
4. Slicer is another license management web application (https://store.carvewright.com/slicer) for a specific software product. It uses also uses the same interface design as register and utilizes basically the same licensing system as Sculptor.
- We’d like to build a new interface to handle all of the product registration and license management, and we’d like it to link into the store so the customer has one login and dashboard for everything. Maybe a plugin to integrate into Wordpress?
- We also need to link our software license generator to the store. We are using a plugin called “License Manager for WooCommerce” which has an API, but we will need someone to explore the server to understand our license generator and do the integration.
- We are investigating possibly using Hubspot CRM with their support ticketing for customer management as it links to Woocommerce, but we might need to figure out how to transfer the legacy customer notes over.
