I have an incarcerated family member that is in need of specific statistical data. There is a new law (AB256 Racial Justice Act) that allows incarcerated individuals to get relief from the court, and one of the ways that can be used to prove racial disparities in arrests, charging, and convictions, is through statistical data. This data should have the specific criminal offense as well as race of each offender. Basically, he has to show that nonminority people received less time than people of color for the same criminal offense. This is an in-prison offense where he was charged with conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance (Marijuana) in 2007. He received 9 years and 4 months. I don't know if this is something you can do but I would like to hear what you think concerning this matter. Thank you.
