Experienced Researcher (Bilingual: Japanese-English)
•To source Japanese woven cottons and linen printed fabric from wholesale fabric supplier/s from Japan.
•We're an Australian Children's wear brand OIshi-m whom produce limited edition garments for children. Much of our fabrication used in feature fabrics for our bottoms is Japanese and we're currently sourcing much of this type of fabric from Australian suppliers at a mark-up or on occasion from physical store visits to Tomato - a Japanese Wholesale/Retail store in Tokyo. We would like to source Japanese woven fabrics direct from the distributors, mills or makers in Japan rather than pay full retail (imported) price in Australia.
Skills Required and Desired:
•We'd love an experienced Bi-lingual person who has an ability to read, write and converse in Japanese and English.
•Textile knowledge preferred with some understanding of the Wholesale Japanese fabric marketplace - otherwise some basic Google understanding to do research.
•Previous experience negotiating with suppliers preferred but not essential
Outcomes from the project:
•To research and list other wholesale fabric supplier/s in Tokyo similar to Tomato Store that sells woven printed Japanese fabrics who would be willing to do business with Oishi-m, an Australian Clothing Manufacturer.
-Fabric price range - 150- 750 JPY per metre.
-Must be able to provide minimum 1-2 bolts (approx 14m/bolt) of fabric per design
-Supplier details required: contact details, lead times, minimum order quantities, minimum shipment quantities, payment terms, details of fabric ranges/swatches available, ability to communicate in English.
•To research and provide details of upcoming fabric trade fairs in Japan/Korea which may be of interest.
Anticipated project duration:
•5 hours research time. With additional work pending research results and quality.
•Expected Hourly rate under $50/hr.
