Job Description

We are looking an AS3 developer with extensive knowledge of javascript. The project involves working with video players and ad networks so any experience in this area is welcomed. The duration of our collaboration will depend on how well you do the first couple of weeks.

As payment goes we can either pay on a hourly basis or we can discuss a project fee.

NOTE: If you cannot communicate over Skype with a bandwidth that is clear, without background noise or any other interruption then please don't apply. We communicate VERBALLY and with chat. No person will be hired without a verbal interview.

We would like someone from Europe (or Romania) preferably. NO AGENCY'S.

A message from the CEO: Because we only work with highly qualified individuals who are experienced on enterprise systems, we require the following installed on your machine and ready for usage. We have wasted HOURS on setting people up, only to realize that if they don't have exposure to these tools, THEY ARE NOT ENTERPRISE EXPERIENCED.

1. Windows 7 Professional - Non negotiable, have it running with 4 Gbyte minimum of memory or more.

2. Eclipse Indigo for EE with subversion - Not Helios, not Juno, with FLEX 4.6 installed - You need to know how to code Action Script at the lower levels - we test using Eclipse with the Players.and the FLEX Plugin - THIS IS A DEAL BREAKER - Don't apply as I will personally complain to ODesk that you mis-represented yourself and you don't read requirements.

3. Tortoise for SVN - If you can't explain what it does, you are mis-representing yourself. YOU WILL be asked to explain how you used it.

Apache 2.2x - If you don't know how to configure it for virtual hosts - don't bother applying.

We also want OO experience. We will not tolerate JavaScript cowboys. We need repeatable patterns and JavaScript is the worst when it comes to enforcing enterprise standards for structure, classes and maintainability.

One more thing: If you like working with Pros, you will tolerate ambiguity and be flexible in your approach to meeting our deadlines. We work hard, and if you are an 8 to 5 person, that's fine. But you better deliver on-time and within budget, or you are toast.

For all this hard talk, you will find that IF you are the best at what we do, you will be respected, asked your opinion often, and given creative vision for the products you are involved in. You are not treated like a code-monkey, but a valuable knowledge worker.

Consider working with us like participating in a season of Survivor, the cheesy reality show. Not that we're cheesy, but we will vote your off the island in a heartbeat if you BS'd your way into this position and then start to be flaky.

I am the head Architect - Chief water carrier and mentor for the team. I never ask people to do what I am not prepared to do. I know what I'm doing and you can always depend on me for your needs - personal for those who have "stuff" happen while working with us, and financial, because I DO GIVE BONUSES.

And if all that isn't enough to keep you from applying, here is the final requirement for those of you who think like lawyers - We are a CONTRACTOR to our clients.

We charge them for WORK DELIVERED. We don't charge them for discussions over the phone about future work or even when they have concerns or issues that need to be gone over. That is part of the cost of doing business.

And I won't pay for the same from CONTRACTORS who want to work on our team. Either you believe it's a cost of business and handle yourself accordingly, or you ought to get back to Law School. Attorneys are the only profession who get away with a 15 minute charge for a 5 minute phone call and last time I checked there were none on ODesk looking to be hired!
