Job Description

VoyagerGIS is small software startup that combines modern, high-speed, highly accurate and resource-efficient web search technologies with geospatial data. We are the only enterprise search solution that speaks spatial natively. We are looking for a driven, creative and passionate developer who can help us build a new front end for our software as well as create custom implementations to suit customers’ needs.
This is a great opportunity to make the user interface of Voyager shine as much as the software platform already does. Voyager was founded and built by a leader in the Lucene/Solr community. So we are looking for a javascript star to grow in that tradition.
Beyond the technical skills, the ideal candidate should be a motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently in a remote work environment. (We all work from home.) You should be a clear communicator who can relay information verbally and in writing. You should be detail oriented and only happy when you create a killer design that’s incredibly easy to use. You should be familiar with Agile Scrum development processes and be comfortable with thin requirement documents and fast turn around times. You should be able to take direction and feedback but also provide constructive criticism. Our company is growing quickly, so this role offers plenty of opportunity to advance in to a full-time position.
Responsibilities will include:
• Developing the front end for Voyager GIS
• Taking flat files from a designer and translating them into pixel perfect working software
• Taking a visual vocabulary using that to extend the software
• Working with our API to develop “widgets” for other platform
• Developing custom demos of our software
• Extending the software to support new markets
Technical skills required:
• Excellent javascript software developer
• Excellent with HTML, JQuery, Bootstrap
• Experience with http://angularjs.org/
• Experience with javascript testing systems (karma)
• Good design skills
• Familiar with Apache Lucene/Solr
• Comfortable running java server tools (Jetty, RESTEasy, Apache Wicket)
• Self-motivated and stay current with improvements in the field
To apply, please send a resume and cover letter with examples of your work to jobs@voyagergis.com
