Job Description

The Senior Director of Technology will be responsible for all scientific and technological aspects of the organization which includes management of all IT infrastructures and all product development efforts. The role will interface with the CEO to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of all technology. The position will provide a senior level of management, motivation and direction to bring projects out of planning and into production as fast as possible. As the head of Technology, the role will maintain highly effective working relationships with all other department managers to ensure that all products and technology are pushing the business forward.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead strategic and tactical product development by working with the Product Director and the Engineering Development Manager
Hands on responsibility for implementing and scaling of the technology infrastructure
Oversee technical research and development of scalable computing for massive growth
Direct the planning and execution of projects and build a credible track record of on-time project delivery, consistently executing product pushes at least every three (3) days
Drive product and category innovation to stay ahead of competition
Manage and execute research and development efforts that will improve the performance of algorithms
Constantly experiment with different ways people might want to discover our product and interact with our brand.
Improve stability of systems, complete the overhaul of production deployment, and transition legacy systems to cloud
Evangelize, execute and ensure that optimization mindset is ingrained in the company culture


REQUIREMENTS
Ability and desire to build products that will change the world
Track history showing an ability to form raw ideas into marketable and innovative products while managing all technology decisions for a business
Demonstrate out of the box thinking while dealing with problems that are often novel and not readily defined
Must be well-versed in LINUX technologies including team of developers and systems; My SQL, Mongo DB, PHP, Python; jQuery, Yii Framework
Comfortable being the smartest technology person in the company


The selection process requires potential candidates to take a series of tests to measure their abilities. Potential candidates will be paid a fixed price of upon successful completion of tests.

A web camera is required for each testing phase. It is mandatory to log on to the oDesk Team application for proctoring purposes.
