USB Driver for Web Application

Job Description

Expert Device Driver Programmer Needed for USB Device.

This job is linked to another job that will be forthcoming in a few months time and the successful candidate will have priority in applying for that 2nd project.

I'm completing work on a new web application and am now in need of a developer who will be able to build me a Windows XP / Vista / 7 (x86 and x64) device driver for a USB input device. The device driver will need to communicate with a Javascript API that will be present within a users browser screen. The API is JWPlayer (http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player/jw-player-for-flash-v5/12540/javascript-api-reference).

In addition to the above, the device driver will have to be registered, so that the same driver can't be installed on multiple machines - each one will require a unique key before being able to function. Therefore, a small utility that will present a request code to the user and be able to accept a validation code and ultimately store a combination of both will need to accompany the driver itself. The mechanics behind verifying the request code and the processing of the validation code can be discussed during the development.

All source code for the project will be presented upon completion.

Although it's preferred for the successful candidate to be based within the continental US, it's not a requirement. However, the total budget for this project is $500 and any shipping of the USB device itself to the successful candidate will be taken out of the project cost, therefore it may be unpractical to ship overseas.

The candidate can obtain the hardware locally, at their own cost.

Remote access to a system with the USB device attached to will be made available.

As mentioned, this is Part I of (at least) a 2 part project.
