I graduated from college with a degree in English and experience as lead editor for a book produced by the university featuring local writers. Regarding the book, I edited accepted submissions and designed the entire layout. This publication was sold at the university as a way to generate revenue for the English department. I also worked on the student government concert committee for two years to coordinate, organize, and market all concerts that took place on campus, including a charity concert to raise money for a local food bank that was in danger of being shut down. Such efforts required constant fundraising, as well as drafting press releases and creating flyers. This required constant collaboration with the university’s publicity and graphic design departments. I also helped to establish professional relationships with live music production companies such as Goldenvoice and Guerilla Union. These relationships later brought large music festivals such as Bamboozle Left to the university, increasing the school’s public profile and creating a viable venue for Southern California promoters. A few colleagues and I have since joined to create an event production company called The Noise Academy (www.thenoiseacademy.com) that works to develop and coordinate various music and visual art events in Southern California while also being contracted out by larger companies such as Goldenvoice and Insomniac.
In addition to this experience, I offer a keen understanding of the duties of this position and the ability to work on a team, as gained from employment as an administrative assistant for a prominent real estate appraisal company where I not only performed daily office tasks, but also edited all reports produced by the company. I also gained valuable experience as a marketing assistant for a manufacturing company, creating marketing materials and coordinating the mailing of such to current and prospective clients. Please visit www.bsxgear.com to view the marketing campaign I helped create for this company. In addition to the previous experience listed, I developed a strong ability to meet the demands of various divisions within a company while working under tight deadlines as a copy editor for a publishing house.
Lastly, I acquired strong networking and communication skills while handling all marketing strategies for International City Theatre, a professional, non-profit regional theatre. During my time there, earned revenue increased by $100,000 in my first year and the theatre had its highest grossing show in its 26-year history. In total, I have been in charge of marketing for three of the theatre's top 10 highest grossing productions in its 28-year history. I have also increased web traffic to the company's website and established a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Wordpress.
In my spare time, I do freelance work as a graphic designer and have recently helped to create the following websites: www.wldct.com, www.esgvrop.com, and www.breadandbarley.com.
Rounding out these qualifications are a strong work ethic (awarded most dedicated concert committee member for student government), as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Premier, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, QuarkXPress, InDesign, Wordpress, e-mail marketing, social media marketing and the Internet.
I can be a beneficial asset to the many services your company provides, and I am confident that my skills and experience will help achieve your company's objective in a timely and efficient manner. I offer a contemporary approach and mindset to both my writing voice and design esthetic, and I look forward to helping you with your project.
